* Yr 1/2 trip to Ely - April 2009*

As part of their summer topic work, yrs 1/2 went on a trip to Ely.  They travelled by coach to Waterbeach Station and then by train to Ely. The children were very excited and for some it was the first time they had ever been on a train! During the journey, they looked closely at the fenland landscape. and on arrival at Ely station, the children walked along by the river towards the Cathedral.  They stopped to look at and draw the Eel sculptures and investigate the willow weaving.

Once they reached the cathedral, they drew the towers and gargolyes.and once inside, the children explored the maze and used big mirrors to look at the elaborate ceiling. The children were delighted to find out that the organ had more than 5000 pipes!!
